I know i have not written in a while but this week in chapel has been slightly uneventful. We have had the history of NCU, then to onother day was about our recreation center and his plans to bring our spiritual life in tune with our physical life. I have learned a lot this week in my classes though. Being able to let God have control.

The Presence of God

Today in service was a great message from God. Pastor Cindy is a true follower of Christ she listens to the Holy Spirit and allows to it to move in the service. These are my notes and my thoughts of the message. It may be long but its really something i truly love.

Today Pastor Cindy Spoke about being in the presence of God. 1 chronicles 13: 1-14

Man’s way vs. God’s:

We tend to be in the presence of God by doing what we think is right. Well we need to do things Gods way.
We tend to do things that we feel by instinct that is best for the kingdom of God and best for our lives. We dont even inquire of Gods request or his will.

Emotional Reaction:

We can’t let our emotions influence our praise and become the only reason why we worship and praise God.
We need to praise God no matter how we feel then let our emotions and inspirations come afterwards.

Sacred as Secular:

We need to treat being in the presence of God as Holy and Sacred.
We can’t act like being in God’s presents as common and not important.
When in God’s presence let it be Holy/ Sacred/ LIFE-CHANGING!
When in the the presence of God in his holiness we will feel all our sins in our life but we will still feel his grace and love.

Reaction To the Presence of God:

We can either…
Run From God..
People are afraid of God and don’t want anything to do with him for fear of his anger/wrath/death.
Run to God..
People need to fear God so we can have motivation to continue to live for him.

The Threshing Floor

A floor that the Farmer was able to separate the good from the bad of the crop.
We need to go to God on the threshing Floor so we can have our sins taken away and only left with the good in our lives, so we can be clean.
There will be a time when all the things we did for ourselves and not for the kingdom of god will be burned.
What we do with and in the presence of God will withstand the Fire.

God’s way to his presence

To be in Gods presence we need to Consecrate ourselves.
Wash our mind, soul and body
Offer our sacrifices, (Money, Time, love)
We need to remove all things in our life that do not honor God.
We need to be broken on front of God.
What we do in our free time and alone time should honor God.

I KNOW THIS IS REALLY LONG BUT THESE ARE THE NOTES THAT I TOOK IN SERVICE TODAY AND THEY ARE SO TRUE I WANT TO HAVE THINGS IN MY LIFE THAT ALLOW ME TO BE IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD. GOD I GIVE YOU MY ALL!

I can honestly say that one thing i need to work on is patience. There is one serve we have every once in a while that i tend to like the least because ALL IT IS, i sitting and praying waiting on God to move. But i realized today that sometimes just sitting and listening for God. is the best option because you can find peace and comfort just knowing he is near. I ask That we all take time to just listen.

Today in Chapel Paul Hurckman. He is a Graduate of North Central University.

He starts his message of with one of the most popular song ever recorded by Chumbawamba called Tubthumping. “I get knocked down but i get up again your never gonna keep me down.”

Do you remember when Shrek said That ogres are like onions they have layers. Well, we all have layers and some of our layers we show and emphasize more on then some of our other layers.

Peter in the bible is the man who walked on water, the man who did a lot of amazing things through and for Jesus yet when it came down to being asked if he was with Jesus when Jesus was on trial Peter Denied it three times. In that moment we saw all his layers, we know that peter loves Jesus and we rarely in the bible see Peter’s failures and faults but we see here that Peter isnt perfect. Peter had is up and down days. Yet he is a man that failed God but still got back up again and did amazing things For Christ because he told christ about is failures, asked for forgiveness and continued to follow after him.

We need to be people who when we fail are able to talk to a really trusted friend, or pastor and tell them our faults and failures so that they can help us not fail in that area of our lives any more. We are no longer allowed to to be people who keep our failures bottled up and hidden. If we hide our failures and make people think you do not struggle or sin then you are only fooling and hurting yourself. We need God’s help and the help of fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to help is with our temptations and failures.

We all fail but with the help of the people we love and trust we can get back up again and do amazing things for God just like peter did. When we let people see who really are then when we struggle then we can be accountable to or friends and pastors or mentors.

My challenge to myself is that i am going to set a plan in place that will help me stay accountable to many people. My Dad, Mom and my best friend Nick Reed. When we are accountable to people we trust and know that are christians then we can be honest and truthful with them. Never be accountable with someone you dont really know very well.

So i challenge all of you to show people who you really are and let those you really trust know what you struggle with. Have and accountability partner and be an accountability partner also.

“The Terrible, Horrible, No Good , Very Bad Day”

Today in chapel was great. Professor Larry Bach spoke today about being a true worshiper in the Good days and even in “The Terrible, Horrible, No Good , Very Bad Day”.

Have you ever been to a service where the pastor or speaker uses the most simple and memorable thing to get his point across. Well today Professor Larry Bach read out of one of the best childhood book i remember Called “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”.

I wasn’t quite sure where he was going with this but to be honest i loved it as soon as he started. He connected this book with the story of Paul and Silus.Paul and Silus were in jail yet they still worshiped God and sang a hymn. How in the world good you be that far low in the status and still praise God. THEY WERE IN JAIL!

I have a question, When we are having a “Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” are we still going to praise, worship and obey God.

the second point he brought out is that we all try to be successful and significant and that there is nothing wrong with that but sometimes God just wants us to shut up and obey him. If we do that then we will be successful and significant and a true worshiper.

IN OUR LIVES WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THOSE “TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD VERY BAD DAY” WE NEED TO JUST OBEY AND WORSHIP GOD NO MATTER WHAT!

Are We Ready To Pray?

Today in service Pastor Steve Hendricks spoke about prayer. When we are ready to pray we tend to become sleepy and want to take a nap we tend to think of our unfinished jobs around the house that need done. When we let our minds become distracted with those small things we can become push overs we are easily sidetracked. When we are not strong in our prayer life then we become spiritually weak and get to the point where we dont even want to pray because we do not know if we are praying right. We need to do Push ups. We need to EXERCISE. We need to exercise our right to pray so that our prayers can be heard.

MY CHALLENGE TO YOU TODAY IS TO EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO PRAY! WHEN WE CONTINUE TO PRAY DAY AFTER DAY SOMETHING GOOD WILL HAPPEN! I PROMISE!

Chapel With Nate Ruch

Nate Ruch is a great faculty member and speaker here at North Central University. Today he spoke about change not looking back at our past and our history just ask God to help us get closer to him and be a different person. Did you know out of all the New years Resolutions all of us make only 8% of us will actually finish or truly pursue them. We need to not go back to our old selves we need to make a difference in our lives. If we were hurt by someone in the past we need to forgive and forget about it. We cant worry about every little thing trust in God to provide your finances etc.. We cant pursue our past and change the past but we need to focus on the only thing that is truly worth pursuing and that is God and God ONLY. Change your life this year pursue God more in your prayer life and in your devotions. Pursue God everywhere you go DON’T STOP. I am going to challenge myself and i challenge you guys as well to pursue God in everything we do!

Graduated

Well being graduated has been great. i have been really busy already during the summer. i have been working at Arby’s then working on stuff at home and also a lot of grad parties. i have to be up in North Central university in Minnesota on August 27 so we are heading up there a few days ahead of time so we can get acclimated to the area around me. i’m so nervous yet so excited. i’m nervous because its something new and really nervous because i hope i have enough money to finish my education and graduate from N.C.U. i don’t want to start out at N.C.U and then have to drop out because i don’t have the money. God will provide i know he will its just hard to keep wondering day by day if i will have the money for my education.

Vacation in Washington D.C

Vacation was very fun. We visited many monuments, statues, and museums. I had a blast. We really did a lot
Of walking!!! But it was worth it. I learned a lot while
I was there. We were able to get a tour of the capital building, it is huge!! It has many statues and pictures in there. Our tour guide said that if you took the statue of liberty off of it’s stand it would be able to fit in the rotunda which is the room in the center of the building and still have room left over!! The room is huge!!! It was really cool!

I am very excited about vacation. It has been a long time since I have been on vacation. I plan on having fun with my family. Hope it doesn’t go by to fast.
